On Friday 23rd May a group of Students from the “United Nations International School of Hanoi” visited NIST to perform and take workshops on STEPPING. “Stepping” is a syncopated and synchronized dance form which gained popularity amongst black fraternities in the US in the 1980’s. It involves stamping, clapping, slapping and various other body percussions and is a powerful and aggressive form of group movement. It has been popularized in movies such as “Stomp the Yard,” Performances were made to over 1000 students on the day, and over 100 year 8,9 and 10 students took part in Workshops. NIST would love to start a group next year, with perhaps a return trip to UNIS.
