 An All-Weather Pitch and Sports Complex Roof

Sport and play are an important part of the NIST day.  As an IB world school in the heart of Bangkok it is our goal to educate the whole child.  Our facilities must meet this challenge.

NIST’s  current field does not meet the needs of our  student body.  At the moment, the field must have significant down time to rehabilitate the turf and thus, is off limits for much of the rainy season. Furthermore, the surface is uneven which can be dangerous to the players.  NIST needs a field that allows students, and the wider community who rent the School’s facilities, to use it all year long and for all sports.  An  all weather, artificial pitch is a long-term solution that is cost effective and directly benefits the student body as well as the external Bangkok community.

Artificial pitches have advanced over the years and now provide the same performance and safety as natural turf pitches regardless of the season or climate:

o   Performance level same or better than turf

o   Less  risk of injury to players

o   Uniform performance across the surface

o   Features can be designed to meet the  demands of our students and the various games played on the field

o   Compatible for any stud boots

o   No down time for turf rehabilitation

Following completion of Building 6 in May, 2010, NIST will be able to replace the main field.   At the same time, NIST will also cover the Sports Complex.  The Sports Complex roof, which will provide shade and rain protection for the School’s tennis courts, will give Students a further play area for both recreational  and classroom space.

How will we do this?

NIST has secured a large number of gifts and pledges for the field and tennis court project.  Now, NIST is turning  to the larger community of parents and alumni to support this project with donations - both large and small.  We need to work together to reach our goal.  Please join us by making a contribution to this project – every little bit makes a difference.

Participation and Recognition

To recognize your participation, we will make a plaque for every donation of B10,000 or more.  There will be a wall of recognition honoring the support we receive.  We value everyone’s contribution – it is only by pulling together that we can achieve our goal for our future, for the future of NIST.
