Thailand Flood Fundraising at NIST
On 11 October, 2011, a NIST
student-led Flood Fundraising initiative began
raising funds to purchase 100 boats for the most
affected regions in Thailand. The ‘Sponsor a Boat,
Save a Life’ initiative was met with an incredible
outpour of support and within 8 hours the School
exceeded the target of 100 boats. This overwhelming
support from the NIST community was tweeted from the
School and was mentioned on a CNN report (please

In responding to the community’s generosity and the
continued devastation caused by the floods, the
School is now preparing for Phase Two of its relief
efforts. As the situation evolves and needs arise,
the School will respond appropriately and
purposefully. NIST is overwhelmed by the magnitude
of continued support from its community and is
actively planning for further relief efforts.
