The New International School
of Thailand (NIST) celebrates success of its first
community fun run and the official opening of the
new all weather playing field
(2 March 2011) On the morning of Saturday 26
February 2011, NIST hosted its first Community Fun
Run, a wonderful community-led event. The aims of
the event were to ignite the community whilst also
raising money for a service fund to support
student-initiated service projects at NIST. The day
also marked the official opening of our new
all-weather pitch and roof over the tennis courts.
Participants on the day included students, parents,
and teachers from the NIST community who partook in
different runs ranging from a simple one-lap fun run
to an innovative urban adventure race around the
School grounds and buildings. NIST also welcomed our
40 special guests, children living with HIV from the
Mercy Centre. NIST Parent and Teacher Association
(NIPTA) organised food and beverages for sale with
all the proceeds being donated to NIST students’
projects.
The rainy start ensured a
wonderful cool event and the Community Fun Run ran
smoothly. It was clearly a great success shared by
the entire NIST community. The participants enjoyed
seeing new areas of the School in an enjoyable and
active way! The organization was truly a
collaborative community effort.
Many thanks to all the organizers including NIPTA
members, facilities staff, PE assistants, teacher
volunteers, the Development Office, and the student
service teams for their contribution to a very
successful event. A special thanks also goes to our
sponsors; Khun Jentana Ngamkhiaw from Jentana and
Associates, Khun Siriwan Chaisiri from Toyota
Nakhonnayok, Khun Panomtorn Ratanaprayook from
Prayook and NIPTA.
Money raised, which totaled Baht 204,745, will be
used to enhance student facilities at NIST.
