Gulf Saraburi FC visits NIST to celebrate the new all-weather playing field.

On Thursday 9 June 2011 the NIST community welcomed one of Thailand’s Division 1 football teams, the Gulf Saraburi FC, to NIST for its official celebration of NIST’s new all-weather playing field.  This, one-of-a-kind, first class playing field also functions as a recreational area for students and was funded by generous donations from the NIST community.  A friendly football match against Gulf Saraburi FC and NIST ensued while the NIST community cheered on.

Gulf Saraburi FC’s Coach Totchtawan Sripan is well-known as having played for the Thai national team and for having scored against teams including Manchester United and Holland. The NIST team (consisting of both staff and students) played a great game against Gulf Saraburi FC. With their impressive football abilities Gulf Saraburi FC won the game. However, NIST’s deputy head- Mr. Adrian Watts successfully scored a goal against the Thai professional team. The event was a great success; the playing field served its purpose and offered players a sturdy, durable and all-weather football pitch. NIST looks forward to organizing future sporting events of this calibre in its expanding sport facilities.
