SEASAC Swimming Championships
The level and depth of competition at the recent SEASAC Swimming Championships, held at NIST on Friday 4 March and Saturday 5 March, can best be described as ‘two incredible days of swimming’.
The meet was the biggest SEASAC swimming event ever and was attended by over 280 swimmers representing all 12 SEASAC schools—a big thank you to everyone who assisted in making the championships at NIST such a successful event.
NIST was represented by 30 students, from Year 6 to Year 13. Members of the NIST team include:
Girls: Susie (Ratchapa) Chongthaweephol, Elli Curotta, Emmy (Nattida) Drew, Leead Gad, Lexi George, Tara George, Tashi Grant, Isabel Hahn, Sarinya Harinsuta, Olivia King, Prim Lerthirunvibul, Rena Okura, Fallon Parfaite, Arkira Tanglertsumpun, and Bo (Vichayaporn) Uahwatanasakul.
Boys: Jojo (Phanit) Asavanamuang, Matthew Christensen, Marten Dondorp, Arne Esser, Jordan Ferdinandus, Nathan Ferdinandus, Prin Harinsuta, Neil Hyland, Zim (Pavee) Jearrajinda, William (Wen You) Jiang, Eun Seok Jo, Nopakit Lerthirunvibul, Alexander Mandel, JR (Garn) Masathienvong, and Nathan Stern.
The event featured personal best times by all swimmers, with some very good performances, particularly by those who have trained hard throughout the year. Notable individual performances include: 10-year-old Nathan Stern (1st in 50 Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly and 100 Butterfly) who finished 3rd in the 12 & under boys age group; Susie Chongthaweephol (1st in 50 Breaststroke; 3rd in 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, and 100 Breast stroke) who finished 4th in the 12 & under girls age group; and Arkira Tanglertsumpun (1st in 100IM; 2nd in 50 Butterfly, 50 Freestyle, and 100 Butterfly; and 3rd in 100 Freestyle) who finished 3rd in the girls 15 & over age group. In age group divisions the NIST Falcons finished 2nd in the boys 12 & under age group, 4th in the boys 13-14 age group and 2nd in the 15 & over girls age group. In the overall results from the championships, NIST boys and girls both finished in 4th place with the team also finishing in 4th place in the combined team results.
Once again, well done to all members of the team on their excellent effort and performances over both days. Finally, thank you to all of the NIST families and members of the NIST community for their enthusiastic support.
