A successful thank you breakfast for donors at NIST

On Thursday 26 May, the New International School of Thailand (NIST) held a thank you breakfast for its generous donors who contributed over 33 million Baht to the building of the new all-weather football field and a roof over its tennis courts. Sixty donors attended the event.

Following a hearty breakfast and a thank you speech by Mr. Simon Leslie, NIST’s Headmaster, donors moved to the tennis courts to watch short exhibition tennis games played by the NIST Falcons tennis team against the world-renowned Thai female tennis superstar, Tammy Tamarine Tanasugarn. The two tie-break games were enjoyed by all the players and spectators.

After the games, Tammy highly commended the professional quality of the Plexipave court, commenting that it was one of the very few ‘under cover’ tennis courts in Thailand. She was delighted for NIST students that the School supports tennis and congratulated them for being able to enjoy practising tennis more now that the heat and the rain are no longer an issue.

The number of students who play tennis, as part of their extra curricula activities, has increased from 80 before the roof was built, to 120 currently.

After the games, a representative from the NIST Falcons tennis team gave a brief thank you speech to all donors and presented Tammy with a Falcons shirt as a gift. NIST’s Headmaster, Mr. Simon Leslie and NIST’s Athletics and Activities Director, Mr. Paul Hodgkinson also presented her with gifts from the School.

The thank you breakfast was a successful and fulfilling event. For the donors, they were assured that their donations have really made a difference. For NIST students, they were inspired by Tammy’s presence and support as well as thankful to the donors for providing them with the roof cover that helps them enjoy the sport more.
