Sports & Extra-Curricular Activities

In addition to its excellent academic curriculum, NIST offers a wide range of musical, sporting, artistic, and other activities through its after school sports and extra-curricular activities programme.  These activities are a valued part of the holistic development of our students and the students are encouraged to participate.

Normal days for extra-curricular activities (ECAs) are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 2:45 to 3:30 pm.  However, school sports teams have varied training times and fixtures throughout the week.

Three activity sessions are scheduled during the school year.  Prior to each session, details are posted on the school portal for students to make their choices and parents to register their children on-line.

Sports Programmes

The The New International School of Thailand (NIST) offers a variety of sports programmes to its students and the community.  NIST is a member of the Bangkok International Schools Athletic Conference (BISAC) and the South East Asian Student Activities Conference (SEASAC).  Membership in these organisations provides a structure for our sports programme and competition for our teams. Presently, NIST has 46 competitive BISAC and SEASAC teams with over 500 students involved in representing the school in sports during the academic year.  We have 65 coaches to guide our students in these various sports.

Our aim is for our teams to be competitive within the BISAC and SEASAC programmes whilst the programme remains balanced within the academic demands of the school.

 BISAC

The Bangkok International Schools Activities Conference (BISAC) provides  the opportunity for school teams to play against other international schools in Bangkok on a regular basis.  At the end of each season there is usually a tournament.  The age groups for BISAC are:  U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19.

For more information on BISAC and a full list of sports and their seasons please go to: www.bisac.net

 SEASAC

SEASAC (South East Asia Sports and Activities Conference) involves the senior sports teams in the school, comprising mainly of students in Years 12 and 13.  SEASAC tournaments and games may involve travelling outside Thailand.  Members include schools from Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Burma, and Thailand.  SEASAC also involves students in the Arts as well as sports and has now expanded to include the Model United Nations and other activities.  Parents may be asked to host visiting students when a tournament is organized by NIST.

Students can try out for the NIST Falcons Swim Team which competes in various swim meets throughout the year, both invitational and BISAC.

Falcon Gymnastics Club*

The Gymnastics Club is also a competitive club and students are asked to attend try-outs before joining the programme.  The gymnastics club participates at the BISAC, SEASAC and invitational levels.

Falcon Tennis Club*

NIST runs an extensive elementary tennis programme both indoor and out.  This team also participates in BISAC events.

Falcon Golf Club*

This is our newest sports club and provides students with expert coaching by outside professionals.

*These after school programmes have an additional charge per term per student due to the outside coaching expertise utilized.

Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs)

A wide variety of after-school activities is offered to students from Year 2 and above.   Activities include art, choir, bands, a variety of sports, information technology, chess, community activities, math and board games among others.  There is a bus service available to students that participate in ECAs by direct booking by parents.  For a full list of activities, please click here:  ECA
