School Governance

NIST is governed by a Council of Trustees of the Foundation for International Education (FIE).

The FIE consists of at least 18, and no more than 23 voting members, of whom the majority must be parents or guardians of a child or children at the school. The FIE meets at least twice a year. It appoints an Executive Committee (known as the School Board) to oversee the school on its behalf. The School Board consists of nine voting members elected by the FIE, with the addition of four non-voting members: the Head of School, the Business Manager, the Khru Yai and an elected member of the school staff.

The role of the School Board is to set and review policies and ensure that these policies are implemented. The Administration of the school is responsible for implementing these policies.

FIE Members:

M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, Chairman

M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula earned his bachelor’s degree from the prestigious Thammasat University with 1st class honors in the field of economics.  It is at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School where he received his master’s degree in business administration.  He then went on to work with Thai Farmers Bank (currently known as Kasikorn Bank) until the year 1990, when he resigned—after a 19 and ½ half year-long tenure—as then a member of the board of directors, and a senior executive vice-president.  The vast commercial banking experience, and extensive hand-on knowledge of both micro and macro-economic fundamentals, firmly rooted M.R. Pridiyathorn has been on the boards of various numbers of top business organizations in the country and has filled many other top government postings.  This includes being a Deputy Minister of Commerce for 3 consecutive administrations from mid-1991 to October 1992, and even a government spokesperson at one time prior to that.  One of his most outstanding accomplishments is also the founding of the Export-Import Bank of Thailand where he was President from 1993 to 2001.
