NIST International School proudly welcomed Her Excellency Koike Yuriko, Governor of Tokyo, along with esteemed delegates from the Board of Education on 7 February 2025. This high-profile visit reinforces NIST’s reputation as Thailand’s premier international school, renowned for academic excellence, innovation, and holistic education.
Showcasing NIST’s Unique Approach to Learning
The visit began with an insightful presentation by NIST’s Secondary Principal, Mr Angelo Coskinas, highlighting the school’s distinctive learning framework. The core pillars of NIST’s education—Academics, Expeditions, Activities, Service, and Wellbeing—equip students with the skills, knowledge, and mindset needed to succeed in an ever-evolving global landscape.
Governor Koike and her delegation were particularly interested in NIST’s inquiry-based and student-centred approach. Four student representatives from Years 12 and 13 led a bilingual campus tour in English and Japanese, offering a first-hand look at the school’s world-class learning environment. Highlights of the tour included visits to the Black Box Theatre, Design Technology Studio, Film Class, Theatre, Elementary Building, and World Language Classrooms—each demonstrating NIST’s dedication to creativity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness.
Strengthening Global Educational Connections
A highlight of the visit was the opportunity for NIST students to engage directly with Governor Koike and the Board of Education delegates, discussing global perspectives and lifelong learning. To commemorate the occasion, students presented the delegation with a handcrafted gift made by NIST’s community service groups, symbolising the school’s strong commitment to service, sustainability, and cultural appreciation.
Following the visit, the Governor’s delegation shared their appreciation, stating:
"We were truly honoured to witness the vibrant learning environment and the remarkable achievements of NIST’s students and staff.
