NIST employs more than 500 faculty and staff, including teachers, administrators, learning coaches, support staff, nurses, counsellors and health specialists, and transport, food service and maintenance staff.
Our academic assistants, teacher assistants, support coaches and sports coaches work closely with qualified members of the faculty providing instructional assistance of a technical or professional nature to students or other faculty staff.
The duties of the academic assistant may include student conferences, supervision of voluntary or informal review or discussion sessions, evaluation of student work, classroom or laboratory assistance. Teaching assistants work under the direct supervision of a faculty member in charge of a class or curriculum section.
Sports coaches work under the direction of Director of Athletics and Activities, and work to promote and motivate students they work with, and to help enhance their sporting skills. Sports coaches use their professional skill to analyse individual and team performance, and provide training to improve sporting results and output.
