Technical Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of successful supervisory experience in both strategic planning and operational planning in relation to facility management, project management and construction and building renovation
  • Hands-on experience in leadership and management of a team involved in facilities and property management
  • Construction and property maintenance experience required

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, property management or related field
  • MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred

Other Qualifications

  • Ability to plan and execute agreed strategies and projects
  • Experience in managing operational budgets in relation to property and facility management
  • Knowledge of government functions and organization, local laws, and regulations and rules applicable to assigned functional areas
  • Operational planning and administrative skills
  • Budget development and management
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • People-oriented business professional who works well with others
  • Flexibility and ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

Develop short-term and long-term strategies to deliver upon the schools’ strategic plan, with a particular focus on related to campus operations and projects

  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise work and staff engaged in assigned operational areas
  • Gather, assemble, analyze and evaluate information so as to make projections and plans relevant to the delivery of the schools’ strategic plan
  • Ensure all laws, regulations, local ordinances and school policies are fully implemented and adhered to in regard to property management, construction, and health and safety
  • Assume responsibility as lead for the development and successful completion of property-related projects under guidance from the Campus Development Committee of the board
  • Develop a structured and documented approach to campus facility management, and monitor and report progress to the Head of School as required
  • Develop strong and positive working relationships with all relevant governmental bodies, regulatory agencies, embassies and organizations

Oversee operational planning, policies & procedures and execution

  • Constantly review, update and maintain all existing policies and procedures in relation to the campus operations, maintenance, and school master plan and projects
  • Evaluate campus operational planning, and modify and create documented operational procedures for effective daily operation of the campus
  • Coordinate closely with the following support/business departments and areas of control within the school on a regular basis, highlighting areas of both potential risk and opportunities for improvement
    • School master plan
    • Health and safety matters
    • Community Relations Department (including school clinic)
    • Property Department (including maintenance and housekeeping)
    • Loss Prevention Department
  • Manage and coordinate the effective execution of the roles and responsibilities of all subordinates
  • Ensure the provision of safe, reliable and quality service operations to the school, its staff and the students at all times

Coordinate with board members and senior leaders in advancing the school’s mission and vision

  • Participate in Campus Development Committee meetings of the NIST Executive School Board and other business meetings as required, and prepare appropriate reports and presentations
  • Provide regular staffing, personnel and operations updates to the Head of School
  • Review operational policies on a regular basis and provide recommendations to the Head of School where appropriate
  • Protect cash, assets, and procurement of goods and services for the school by ensuring value for money is achieved and funds are not wasted or mishandled
  • Complete any additional assignments as designated by the Head of School
