Duties for Marketing & Communications Manager

 

Communications

  • Guide the development and execution of a communications strategy that addresses both the internal and external communities
  • Direct the creation and publication of all traditional and digital communications media, including online presence and printed materials
    • Write and edit content as needed
    • Oversee the website, communications platform and other public online systems
    • Ensure alignment of all media to brand and style standards
    • Support all staff tasked with key communications duties
  • Represent public face of the organization in internal and external functions, and document all such events as needed
  • Work with leadership as part of the Crisis Management Team as needed

Branding

  • Create, maintain and/or enhance brand and style standards  based on its evolving mission and values
  • Facilitate community adoption of all set standards
  • Develop and maintain standard templates for use by all staff
  • Collaborate with leadership in identifying and taking advantage of opportunities to uniquely position the organization

Strategic Planning

  • Analyze educational and business trends within the market
  • Conduct internal and external market research to guide strategic positioning
  • Provide recommendations for action to leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or in any related field; master’s degree preferred
  • Eight or more years of experience in a communications and/or marketing role, with a minimum of five at the management or leadership level
  • Experience in managing multiple team members, particularly in the areas of communications, marketing and public relations

Other Qualifications

  • High level of mastery of English language, with particular strengths in editing and professional writing
  • Expertise in multiple technologies, including web design, graphic design, communications platforms and office applications
  • High degree of insight, diplomacy and empathy
  • Meticulous, dynamic and able to identify key areas for growth
