Secondary Academic Assistant (Service and CAS Programmes)

General Responsibilities

  • Research local NGOs, service providers and groups to arrange service trips and set up relationships with students
  • Attend some service trips
  • Liaise with the secondary office to ensure service events are approved, on the calendar and supported
  • Coordinate the forms for the Events Approval Team; collecting from students and distributing to the team members
  • Attend Events Approval Team meetings once a cycle
  • Assist in the organization of service related events such as the Global Issues Network (GIN) and Bangkok Service conferences
  • Assist with the coordination of sustainability projects within the school
  • Assist student service groups with the organization of events and trips
  • Assist with maintaining the budgets for community and service and CAS (e.g., raising purchase requests, liaising with the finance office, etc.)

CAS-Specific Responsibilities

  • Monitoring the ManageBac system (approving and checking activities as complete) and alerting the CAS coordinator of student issues
  • Supporting students in their understanding of CAS requirements through exemplars and responsiveness to emails
  • Co-teaching the introductory CAS lessons with the CAS coordinator at the start of Year 12
  • Assisting the CAS coordinator with logistical matters as needed
  • Assisting the CAS coordinator with CAS interviews

MYP-Specific Responsibilities

  • Attending Action Week Trips in years 7, 8, 9 as required
  • Assisting in preparation of materials and lessons for service lessons in years 10 and 11

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Thai
  • Well-organized with high flexibility
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in budget controlling is preferable
  • Teaching experience is an advantage
  • Competent in computer operations
  • Able to work as a member of the team
