NIST’s founding families strongly believed in the power of diversity and the rich learning that it cultivates. They strived to ensure that our school would represent a wide range of nationalities and ethnicities from the beginning. As the number of international schools in Bangkok and around the world have increased exponentially, most increasingly cater to local families.
We believe that the community our students experience at NIST should reflect the communities that they will become a part of as they move on to university and adulthood.

A Partnership with Parents
One of the most critical factors in supporting the success of children is the involvement of parents. As a not-for-profit foundation school, we are overseen by a parent-elected board, and we have a very active NIST Parent-Teacher Association (NIPTA) that organizes frequent events and provides social opportunities for both new and current members of the community.
From coffee mornings to annual events like Starry Nights and Pinktober to cultural experiences and trips, NIPTA provides the chance for you to meet other parents and settle into life at NIST and, for those arriving in Thailand, the exciting experience of living in Bangkok. Additionally, nearly two dozen cultural groups organized run by parent volunteers provide a way to connect with others who share similar languages and cultural backgrounds.
Organized by NIPTA, Pinktober is an annual event intended to raise support for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer, as well as women’s health in general. Funds raised by the parents are donated to selected service groups and charities, and are also allocated to provided free breast cancer screenings for our female support staff.
Safety & Security
Every school’s foremost responsibility should be safeguarding students, ensuring that they can learn and flourish in a secure, nurturing environment. We have been recognized as a leader in the international school community for our child safeguarding policies and procedures, and NIST has earned certification through the UK-based Keeping Children Safe.
Diversity & Inclusion
Though we are proud of our international community, we also recognize that this represents only one part of diversity. We strive to be inclusive in our admissions practices to ensure that we are cultivating difference across a range of areas. This enables children to experience learning with diverse peers in a way that reflects what they will experience in university and beyond.
