What to expect?
Join us for a four-day Adaptive Schools Foundation Seminar, designed to deepen understanding of adaptivity and its importance in strengthening collaboration, building collective efficacy, and supporting effective teamwork in schools. This seminar develops practical skills and strategies for facilitating dialogue, managing group dynamics, and leading productive conversations. Participants will strengthen their capacity to work interdependently, thereby supporting improved teaching, learning, and decision-making across the school. Session Outcomes:
Day 1 Learning Outcomes - Participants will have:
- An understanding of research findings regarding professional community in schools
- An understanding of the WHAT, WHY, and HOW of becoming adaptive
- Structures and processes for collaborative conversations
Day 2 Learning Outcomes - Participants will have:
- An extended repertoire of facilitation strategies
- An understanding of four group member capabilities
- An understanding of the Seven Norms of Collaboration
- Increased skills with authentic paraphrasing
Day 3 Learning Outcomes - Participants will have:
- A framing of meetings as learning opportunities
- Structures for successful meetings
- An understanding of how to integrate Norms of Collaboration in meetings
- Increased skills posing mediative questions
Day 4 Learning Outcomes - Participants will have:
- Structures and standards for successful meetings
- Perspectives and tools for discussion
- Tools, concepts, and strategies to transfer into their own context, including how to focus on productive/cognitive conflict as a resource.
Keynote Speaker: Kelly Armitage
Kelly Armitage is an international leadership consultant and coach. She is an Adaptive Schools Training Associate and an Instructor for The Principals’ Training Center (PTC) who is passionate about building capacity in others so they can deepen their impact on student learning and wellbeing. She served as Elementary School Principal at International School Bangkok and Curriculum Coordinator at Escuela Campo Alegre in Caracas, Venezuela. Her background also includes experience as an Instructional Coach, Staff Developer, Homeroom Teacher, EAL Teacher, Literacy Specialist and Learning Support Teacher across diverse school communities.
