What is P4C?

Philosophy for Children (P4C) is an inquiry-based approach that nurtures thinking, dialogue, and reasoning across all age groups. Rooted in community-building and student voice, P4C invites learners to explore big questions and concepts through collaborative discussion. It is inherently transdisciplinary, as it strengthens skills in language, critical thinking, social-emotional learning, and global citizenship, while connecting meaningfully to concepts across subjects. Whether used with early years learners or older students, P4C empowers young people to listen deeply, think independently, and engage respectfully with diverse perspectives.

Lisa Naylor

She led Gallions to become the UK’s first SAPERE Gold Award School, supporting P4C from Nursery to Year 6, and now advises multiple schools through the SAPERE ‘Going for Gold’ programme, including a major project introducing P4C to Year 7 students in East London.
