Wilkes University’s International Ed.D. Program Returns to NIST

The international Doctor of Education degree is designed for teachers and leaders who want to improve education through meaningful scholarship, authentic leadership, and transformative practice. Wilkes University, established in 1933 and located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, is excited to announce that our next international Doctor of Educational Leadership cohort is forming for Spring 2027 in partnership with NIST International School. The program is cohort-based, with online learning maximized throughout the semester and three annual, 4-day face-to-face residencies. Cohorts will meet at NIST International School in Bangkok. We are thrilled to work with this world-class school to better serve educators around the world. Cohort size is limited, and program admission is competitive. Admissions requirements include:

• Completed online application (choose doctoral degree and “International Ed.D.” from dropdown options) Waiver code for application fee: 2977
• Current resume or curriculum vitae 
• Copies of certifications or licenses, if applicable
• Two references
• Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts
• Scholarly or professional project, product, or paper with an abstract attesting to how the submission reflects your potential for leadership and scholarship at the doctoral level.

Our four-day residency experiences are a cornerstone of the doctoral journey, immersing students in an engaging, high-impact environment alongside faculty and peers from around the world. Across four days, students participate in interactive sessions, workshops, and meaningful discussions that bridge theory and practice. These experiences are intentionally designed to foster relationships, grow leadership capacity, and support progress toward program milestones. Students leave each residency energized, connected, and prepared to move forward with confidence. More than just time together, residencies are where community is built, ideas are challenged, and leadership is ignited.
