“I feel taken care of, supported and encouraged to grow more.”

I remember receiving an email from James MacDonald in October of last year. The job offer at NIST! My heart raced, and in one swoosh every cell of my body filled with a surge of excitement, adrenaline and joy. I got the job! I had always heard of NIST’s stellar academic reputation and the tireless efforts of the NIST faculty and staff. However, I never witnessed it first hand. I write to you as a “newbie”, what we call the newest faculty and staff members at NIST. I know we all forget that each of us has our own unique story to tell. The fast pace of life overtakes us at times and we forget to recognize those around us.

Come see our school!

I don’t mean merely visit campus, but look at what is going on in this community. We have so much to be proud of, and the students simply fill my heart with their passion, kindness and leadership. I often find myself on the rooftop garden to inhale a hearty gulp of air letting it sink in: I’m here! This place is outstanding! This small blurb is a testament and a heartfelt thanks to everyone here. I am so happy and grateful for being a part of this community, and I look forward to meeting more of you. Rest assured your child is at a school filled with intelligent, industrious and dedicated people. Our ethos is generated every day in so many wonderfully fantastic ways.

I feel taken care of, supported and encouraged to grow more. I do not see limits imposed by a school, but only those I would put upon myself. There is a movie I saw once whose title reflects how I feel at NIST:
