“In the past we were not connected with each other as much, but now NIST is a close-knit community.”

I started working at NIST as a security guard 16 years ago, and I’m now the Community Liaison Officer. The school has changed a lot in that time. I saw the campus develop in many ways, with new buildings being added and many more parents and students joining. In the past we were not connected with each other as much, but now NIST is a close-knit community.

I actually left NIST two times, but came back each time. A school is not like a business or other companies, and I came back because I love working here. I know all the parents and students, and I have watched many of the children grow up from the time they joined as three-year olds to the time they graduated. Many of them still come back to visit.

NIST will be the last place I work.
